Women's Health

Women's Clinic

Two Board Certified Gynecologists, two registered nurses and two nursing assistants staff the Women's Clinic. All visits are confidential.

The Women's Clinic hours are 8:00am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. It is closed between semesters. Visits are by appointment only by calling 578-6716. If you can't make your appointment please call to cancel or a $10 no-show fee per 20 minute appointment slot will be charged.

Services offered:

  • GYN Education Class. This free one-hour class provides education concerning pelvic exams, Pap smears, sexually transmitted diseases (STD's), self breast exams and contraceptive measures. An appointment is required and is made through the Appointment Desk (578-6716) and is required for those who have never had an annual exam.
  • Annual Examination. This includes health education; blood pressure and weight measurements; assessment of thyroid; abdominal and pelvic exams; breast exam; Pap smear (test for cervical cancer and precancer). All women should have a Pap smear once a year if they are 21 years of age or older, or have been sexually active for 3 years, whichever comes first. Tests to detect anemia (low blood count) and STD's are recommended. Costs range from $26 to $50 depending on the tests conducted.
  • Evaluation of abnormal Pap smears. This is done with a procedure called colposcopy and is provided at a relatively low cost. If biopsies are required, there will also be a separate, discounted pathology fee.
  • Evaluation of menstrual irregularities.
  • Contraception counseling: abstinence, condoms, Depo-Provera injections, diaphragm fittings, oral contraceptives, IUD's, and spermicides. Resources are available for other methods.
  • Pregnancy testing, counseling, and referral for prenatal care.
  • Consultation and education regarding self breast exam.
  • Consultation, education, testing and treatment of STD's.
  • Consultation regarding other women's health issues.
  • In an effort to provide more complete Gynecologic care the following services are offered:
    • LEEP: Treatment of a pre-cancerous conditions of the cervix (dysplasia) is available.
    • Vaginal Probe Ultrasound to evaluate abnormal pelvic findings.
    • Gardasil: Vaccine to prevent genital warts and cervical cancer.
    • Numerous brochures concerning women's health issues are also available.
